Wahiba Sand at Al Sharqiya region in Oman

The Wahiba Sands, or Ramlat al-Wahiba (also called Sharqiya Sands, are a region of desert in Oman. The region is named for the Wahiba tribe. The area is defined by a boundary of 180 kilometers (112 mi) north to south and 80 kilometers (50 mi) east to west, with an area of 12,500 square kilometers (4,800 sq mi).

The desert has been of scientific interest since a 1986 expedition by the Royal Geographical Society documented the diversity of the terrain, the flora and fauna, noting 16,000 invertebrates as well as 200 species of other wildlife, including avifauna.

Wahiba sand is desert with rolling sand dunes, varying from deep red to a rich honey colour, stretching as far as the eye can see. This is the traditional home of the Bedouin, hardy spirited people who know how to survive in these harsh desert conditions.

Your adventure starts as you cross the Hajar Mountains in the comfort of your 4WD vehicle. Enjoy wonderful views of this spectacular and beautiful landscape as you head towards the Wadi Bani Khalid Oasis, a gorgeous oasis with turquoise blue pools of fresh water in the middle of the barren and dry mountains. Continue to Wahiba Sands, a vast sea of undulating red and white sand dunes that stretches for around 180 kilometers. Here you can experience exhilarating Roller Coaster sand dune ride as you race up giant sand dunes and plunge over blind precipices. Afterwards, travel deeper into the Sands Wahiba to view the desert flora and fauna and scattered habitations of the Bedouin tribes.

From Quriyat road before offroading along the rugged coast, with mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. This is a nice drive and you will pass through small fishing villages on the way to the wadi. Wadi Shaab is an amazing oasis full of palms, mango and banana trees in the middle of rocky gorge. 40 minutes walk to reach the pools where we can swim and paddle to the hidden caves and waterfall.

Drive to Wahiba Sand to meet our Bedouin family and experience of true life of Bedouin. You have then the chance to experience thing you only see on TV or in the book.You might have to go to catch the camel trek and sun set on top on the dune.
